When: On Line
classes are offered on Sunday afternoons at 1PM Pacific time
on a web board provided through Quiltropolis.
Kaaren Hoback is owner
and moderator.
Who May attend:
Classes are free to Dress Shop and My Pattern Designer
registered owners.
Technical requirements:
You should use IE and
must have Java enabled ( Sun Microsystems or MS Java) in order
to view the white board. The web board unfortunately isn’t
very friendly with Linux, FireFox,Netscape and other
programs.
Other: Class
begin promptly at 1Pm and last for approx 60-90 minutes. There
is always a Q&A session during or after each class
presentation. Class may be cancelled due to holidays and or my
family or work commitments. Class topics are usually posted in
the forum area of the web board and via the class notes
section of the BBS on Sunday mornings. The Class topic is
selected by Kaaren.
Where and What you
need to do: You need to register and create a nickname.
You may then bookmark the site and sign in anytime prior to
class. The URL is

Make sure to keep your password and user name in a safe
place. I do not maintain copies of any of them. If you
forget your password you have to contact Mike Ober who owns
Quiltropolis directly At: mikeo@QUILTROPOLIS.NET
About: There is
open chat before and after class. The class session time is
protocol to keep distractions to a minimum. Logs are not
provided, although there are times a pre class article in PDF
format is offered in the forum area. All class material is
copyright and available only for your personal use and may not
be transferred or transmitted by any means without permission.
The white board
and the actual class setting:
The opening page takes
you to the “forum area” where there are posts about current
and recent classes. There may be attached articles to some of
the posts you are able to download. They will all be in free
PDF format and you can open them with a free Adobe reader.
On the tool bar in pale
letters find the word CHAT, click it, a new pane will open on
the right hand side that Says Dress Shop- click there, and
wait for it to load. You may be told there is a discrepancy
with IE and would you like to block components. Click NO.
I suggest you maximize
your screen.
The program will then
open the text only area of the class room.
Locate the 5th
button from the left on the tool bar which will open the page
that is half white board and half text area.
At the end of the class
section you may place your cursor in the text area of this
page and right click > copy to get a raw copy of the class.
You may then open any word processing program to a blank page,
right click paste to get a full copy of the raw log. Graphics
drawn during class will not be captured. To capture graphics
depending on your system you may use the Alt+Prnt screen
function- then paste into your word or paint type program..
Or, you can use an outside program such as Snagit.
